EPA
www.hudsondredging.com/community/
Our town is about to undergo a major change. It is the hub of an EPA dredging project that is to begin operations this year after many years of planning and negotiations. General Electric is responsible for dumping PCB waste into the Hudson River many years ago. The water is clean but there is apparently sediment .
Most local people and people who live down stream are not happy about it

Solid Gold
Very early this past Saturday I was standing and scanning this area when these two geese came in for a landing from behind me. It was a spectacle to watch them land as they both did belly slides across the frozen pond. They recovered quicker than I could get a shot off, but just stood there after as we watched each other.

Dawn on the Hudson
West bank of Hudson River near Fort Edward, NY
It was still relatively dark, yet technology allowed me to shoot this hand held. Canon and Nikon offer Image Stabilized lenses. My Canon came with an IS lens and it's fast become an industry standard with many cameras having it built right into the body.

Spring has Sprung
YAY!!
I rarely shoot during the afternoon because of the harsh light and shadows, but I saw this on my way home from work yesterday and felt it fitting for Spring's arrival. It was 3:45 which is a far better time for exposure than noonish.
Happy Friday

Anticipation
We are entering mud season here. The transformation from what was a beautiful photographic winter into what beauty Spring always promises. The time lapse will provide little photo ops... but I'm sure I'll find something... mud puddles perhaps!

The Blue Hour
A section of our local integrated bike trail system.
This happens to be along the Hudson River on a densely foggy morning last week.
I want to thank everyone for your kind comments and regular visits. Some of your comments flatter me because I remain humble in my quest to capture moments of time and to be quite honest, I'm not always certain the image is all that good. I have discovered that what my eyes see is soul driven. When I spot something my adrenaline spikes and some intuitive sense draws me in. One of the greatest nature photographers ever says it best...
"In my mind's eye, I visualize how a particular . . . sight and feeling will appear on a print. If it excites me, there is a good chance it will make a good photograph. It is an intuitive sense, an ability that comes from a lot of practice."

Thank you all again and may you have a wonderful Wednesday.

My Girl
"Chase"
She is an English Golden Retriever with a very impressive bloodline which is almost entirely in western Europe. Her father was brought over to NY State from Brussels when he was a pup. Her mother was born stateside, but the grandparents are directly from England and Belgium. Chase's paternal grandfather is a 7 time international champion, but with all this noble blood she is only my beloved pet and companion. She was a Father's Day gift 2 years ago.
