In the Eye of the Beholder

This tree caught my eye while out for a hike with Chase, my Golden Retriever. Simply a dead tree still standing along a century old logging canal become marsh and bird sanctuary.

Perspective, composition, light and the rule of 3rd's. All major components of a good photograph. I remain humble in my art because I truly do not understand my own talent. I receive countless compliments on a daily basis at and I have received honorable mention in several websites and blogs. All this, yet I press the shutter button without thought to anything but what my minds eye sees.

"In my mind's eye, I visualize how a particular ... sight and feeling will appear on a print. If it excites me, there is a good chance it will make a good photograph. It is an intuitive sense, an ability that comes from a lot of practice."
Ansel Adams

Intuitive... I believe. Practice... naturally. But passion is my driving force. A passion to capture a moment in time.

This photo makes me think of war. I don't know, that is just the thought that popped into my mind when I saw it.
