Dawn Mist

The Hudson River before sunrise yesterday.

A pretty pastel dedicated to my daughter Meagan. There's not a day that goes by that you are not in my thoughts or my heart sweet daughter.

10 years ago today the Lord took a 17 year old beautiful girl tragically and quickly. Life would never be the same again.

Thursday in Lake George

A shot from last July.

Lake George NY is a fantastic and beautiful piece of Mother Nature. During the summer months the village of Lake George has s firework display every Thursday night.

Thank you for all your kind comments. I've been busy but will try to stop by and visit.

Have a great Thursday my friends

Pride

Chase loves this place I take her to run.

It's been a slow winter for the Contracting business... something I've been doing for more than 25 years. This shot was taken yesterday... a day ending many, many without work. Today I start a job that will take me well into late Spring and possibly longer. I'll be putting the finishing touches on a newly constructed 7k sq. ft. Carriage House. Yes.. 7,000 !! Imagine a cute Carriage House with all the glorious trim work they adorn, only the size of a small castle with it's 3 staircases, 4 fireplaces, 5 bedrooms and separate guest quarters complete with it's own kitchen. It even has a matching barn on the property.

Pride.. my own as well as Chase's. I'm proud to be the one chosen to do this work out of many carpenters/contractors screened. I'm also honored and grateful. Chase's pride speaks for itself.

Gray Zone

I live just north of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. This little city is made famous for it's horse racing. Our area is peppered with these thoroughbred horse farms. This one is just south of Ft. Edward on the Hudson River.

Magic Moment

Venturing out for that moment of color when most sane people are still asleep is a gamble, but it paid off yesterday. I watched as these colors formed, took a few shots and literally watched them disappear moments later.

Bokeh

With Spring coming soon you'll see my photos taking on different aspects. This is still winter and we received fresh snow last night, but soon I will be doing a lot of Macro and Bokeh shots. In my opinion Fall and Winter are best for landscape photos, Spring and Summer bring about a whole different light and color. The sun is higher which causes harshness and bad shadows, but awesome sunsets. You'll also see night photography during the summer. I enjoy the challenge of catching night shots. I'll post one soon from last summer... oh and you may grow tired of my closeup floral shots.

What once was...

The Adirondack Mt.'s are peppered with these abandoned camps. This may very well had been someone's year round home at one time.

Clearing

The power of prayer. Adam has pulled through. He started showing signs of improvement yesterday when he began demanding things... we knew then our Adam had returned. His Dr. believes it is viral meningitis and because he has gotten better we chose not to do the spinal tap. The viral strain is not deadly and just runs it's course where the bacterial strain is the opposite and must be treated. He should be going home today.

Patty has only left the hospital 3 times to shower... I'll be heading there again this morning... she needs her cup of Joe!

Thank you all again for your support. I truly believe it helped in his recovery.

Mid February

Heavy fog.

I will be spending the day with my Valentine, my best friend, my wife Patty in the hospital. Our son Adam just returned from Combat Medic training this past Wed. night. He was near Houston Texas and something happened to him down there. He is so very sick and the Dr.'s cannot diagnose it. Every test done so far has come back negative. He woke up sick Thursday morning and has been in the hospital since Thursday night. I spent 14 hours there yesterday and Patty only went home to shower. She spent the night with him and I'll be heading there again myself by 6:00 am.

I had meant to do some nice floral shot for today but have been unable to. I wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day.

Update...

It's now 7:45 pm.

Oh my God.... thank you all for your incredible kindness and support.
Adam is still in rough shape and no diagnosis. We have scheduled a spinal tap for tomorrow to see if it's meningitis. He spent a week in the field just before coming home as part of the final's of medic school. While out there they do mock surgery's and such but actually insert IV needles into one another... Adam had as many as 14 inserted before they hit a vein... outdoors!! So it could be related to this also. We are not happy with the Army for this practice !!

Thank you all again and I will post more tomorrow.
Have a nice night.

Noble's Farm

I was asked yesterday in a comment if I actually take this many shots or do I have them stockpiled. The answer is both. I always have my camera with me and I'm blessed to live in an area full of beauty. I try to shoot something every day.
This shot is actually from last winter and it is less than a mile from home, the farm owned by friends of the family. It's the sun setting.

Last Chance

A large part of my love for photography is the chase. A friend and I were on our way back from dropping off my 13 and 11 year olds at their mom's in western Vermont last night. The trip out I kept looking back to the west as we headed east knowing I may or may not make it back to this spot in time. This is 30 minutes back into NY state and the entire trip was filled with hope that there would be enough light. The "Chase" was on.

A Pastel Morning

Snow scenes are difficult to shoot especially in low light. So often it shows blue hue or some other odd colors, which sometimes is okay, such as with a winter fog. This shot was pre dawn and I used every white balance setting and ev value the camera has to get the right exposure. This is almost what my eye saw.
